The media plays a significant role in shaping perceptions, and the indie music scene is no exception. Traditionally, women have often been objectified or portrayed through narrow archetypes, overshadowing their musical talents and contributions. However, the winds of change are blowing through this landscape. With the rise of feminist movements and a more inclusive approach, the media is gradually shifting its focus to embrace diversity and challenge gender stereotypes. When we examine the instrument choices within music ensembles, we may observe a certain degree of gender disparity. My current go-to song is "The Bug Collector" by Haley Heynderickx, mainly because it has a calming effect on me. From the first notes, there is a sense of intrigue as the guitar gently leads into the song  for Heyndrickx to use her ethereal gentle voice. The song's title, "The Bug Collector,"  immediately conjures up images of someone diligently collecting and preserving delicate creatures which reminds me a lot of childhood and the innocence that comes with it. As the song unfolds, Heyndrickx's lyrics paint a vivid scene and explores the beauty found in the smallest and often overlooked aspects of life. The imagery of collecting bugs becomes a metaphor for cherishing small moments and memories.                               The song "Death of a Phone Call" by Whatever Dad explores the theme of distance and the longing for human connection, particularly in a world where phy...
